Buyer’s answer: Anhydrous caffeine and guarana are different sourcing routes. The finished product still needs a defined caffeine target, ingredient identity and a suitable analytical plan.
Specify the ingredient identity
For anhydrous caffeine, review the agreed grade, identity and assay documentation. For guarana, review botanical identity and the extract specification, including the caffeine assay. A botanical name alone does not describe the complete ingredient or its consistency across lots.
Do not infer a release profile
Natural caffeine does not automatically mean gentle, slow-release or crash-free performance. Claims about onset or duration require evidence relevant to the finished pouch. Keep the source statement factual and separate it from any benefit wording the brand wants to consider.
Use the finished product as the reference
A theoretical formula calculation is a starting point, not a replacement for finished-pouch verification. When changing between source routes, review flavor, color, moisture, analytical method and stability. Record the new revision so an older reference sample is not mistaken for the approved product.
What to put in the project record
| Decision | Project specification |
|---|---|
| Product identity | Guarana vs anhydrous caffeine pouches |
| Approved reference | Formula revision, sample, packaging drawing and artwork, as applicable. |
| Evidence to request | The specification, relevant test records and market review supporting the decision. |
| Next discussion | Confirm remaining assumptions, responsibilities and acceptance criteria before production. |
